DOA or GOA???
by
Me and my partner were eating out dinner at the local Denny's. We had just finished and were waiting for our extremely slow waitress to come back to get us some desert. Then the pager went off. We were dispatched for an elderly gentelman in his car, passed out unknown if breathing. So we rushed out of the resturant and told them to hold our check. We run emergency to the scene to find the police searching for a vehicle. So we proceed to drive around and look as well. The local blue lighters decided to show up, as this had the potential to be a bad call. We recontacted dispatch for a vehicle description and they informed us that the called had called after he got home. He had origionally noticed the man in the car when he had left the bar. So dispatch advised us the PT was ,what we thought, DOA. So we asked her again and she said again what we thougt DOA. It turns out that the dispatcher was useing imporper dialog for the EMS channel and was saying GOA, gone on arrival, so for about 15 minutes we assumed there was some dead guy in a car somewhere and no one knew where. We were cleared of the scene by police and went back and got our desert.
