The New York Monroe County Sheriff's Department wants to ban a machine that gives people a new way to become intoxicated.
The "AWOL" machines turn the alcohol you'd normally drink into a fine mist you can inhale.
“AWOL" stands for "Alcohol With Out Liquid." The idea is that the person using it can still get intoxicated without ingesting the carbs or calories in a drink, or experiencing a hangover.
Sheriff O'Flynn and two county legislators believe the dangers that can come with the devices are a good reason to ban them in Monroe County.
"The equipment we have to do breath tests and determine intoxication, we're not sure how they would work with this method of ingesting alcohol," said O’Flynn.
The Monroe County Legislature will consider the ban later this year.
