A memorial service will be held Friday for the four people onboard a medical transport helicopter that disappeared a week ago.

The LifeGuard Alaska helicopter was on its way from Cordova to Anchorage on Dec. 3 when it went missing in blowing snow.

The body of John Stumpff, a flight nurse, was found Saturday on the north shore of Passage Canal, about 2.5 miles across the fjord from Whittier. Some helicopter wreckage and medical supplies also were located.

The search was called off Monday.

Stumpff was one of three crew members, along with pilot Lance Brabham and paramedic Cameron Carter. Also on board was a patient, Gaye McDowell, of Cordova.

The memorial is at 1 p.m. Friday at the LifeGuard hangar in Anchorage.
