Telemedicine allows patients to be 'visited' in their own homes

Telemedicine allows patients to be 'visited' in their own homes. A Canadian TeleCare pilot project uses satellites to provide targeted healthcare services in rural and remote areas of Canada. This pilot project is receiving funding from ESA.

As the nurse can see the patient they are able to guide them in using the equipment. The different medical readings come up on the screen in real time enabling the nurse to monitor the patient's health. This pilot project, receiving funding from ESA, uses satellite telecommunications to deliver health services to remote areas in Canada.
