Linking To The Material On This Site

6/10/04 Recently the EMS Educational Resources site experienced two incidents which put a major crimp in instructors being able to download the materials. Both were related to online courses offered via personal/partime business web sites or other means of online educational delivery that used direct links to the materials at the site.

PLEASE, read this message

Linking To The Material On This Site

If you directly link to the presentations instead of downloading them to your own computer, a couple of things happen;

1) Links get changed and they no longer work, leaving you with a gap in your instruction.
2) If you/your students repeatedly download the presentations, you use up bandwidth, which results in :
a) no one else being able to download materials because the bandwidth I pay for each month is used up and everyone must now wait until the new month before they can download;
b) or, I have to purchase addition bandwidth so people can continue to download.

The site was designed as a repository for instructors to download the materials to their own computers and then use in a physical classroom via multi-media, handouts, etc. It was not designed for instructors to supplement online courses by using direct links to the presentations or other materials. PLEASE, do not directly link to items on this site.

We work hard to make sure all links work and you can obtain your desired materials, but be aware that links can and will change to some of the presentations. Bookmarking the url to the material download therefore may not work. It is best to always use the site and utilize the menu to get the description page and working download link to the materials you want.
